Metal Nitrosyl Work

Left: Ortep drawing of the ground state of Fe(CN)5(NO)]2-.  Metastable states (Fe-ON bound and  h-NO) can be produced through excitation by light.  These metastable states are long-lived and can lasts days as long as the temperature does not rise above the "decay" temperature.  (see next DSC curve)

Right: The DSC curve shows the "decay" temperature of the two metastable states.
